Read, Write & Win!
The third annual Read, Write & Win! contest is open to all students in grades 3 - 8 in Crystal Lake. Homeschoolers are welcome. Read the book selected for your grade level and then write a new ending. Essays should be no longer than 1,000 words. Judges will evaluate for creativity and mechanics.  

READ!
Choose one of these books to read:

Grades 3 - 5 Hoot by Carl Hiaasen or
                    Frindle
by Andrew Clements

Grades 6 - 8  Touching Spirit Bear by Ben    
                       Mikaelsen or
                     The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau

WRITE!
 -Write a different ending.
 -Written entries must be no more than 
  1,000 words.
 - Work must be the work of the student.
 - Written entries should include cover page  
   including:
        a. Title of the book
        b. Student's Name
        c. Phone Number
        d. Grade level, school and teacher's name
        e. Word count


Mail or drop off written entries by 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2008 to:

WIN!
Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 8 at the Crystal Lake Public Library.

First ($100), second ($75) and third ($50) place gift certificates will be awarded for each book. 

Judging will be based on creativity and mechanics (spelling, grammar and punctuation).
