Library Cards, Loan Periods, & Fine
Information
Resident Cards
Individuals who reside within the city limits of Crystal Lake on a
permanent basis may obtain and renew a resident card by filling out an application and
providing appropriate current identification which establishes residency. An application
is available at the library.
A resident card is valid for three years from the date of issue provided the cardholder
continues to reside within the city limits of Crystal Lake. A resident card in good
standing entitles the cardholder to the full range of services and materials available at
the Crystal Lake Public Library, including access to other services available through the
library's membership in the North Suburban Library System.
Non-Resident Fee Cards
Non-resident fee cards are available to persons living outside the
city limits of Crystal Lake. Upon payment of a fee comparable to what the library tax
would be if the residential property were within the city limits, and presentation of
appropriate current identification which establishes place of residency, nonresident fee
cards may be issued to all permanent residents of that household. Financial assistance may
be available to qualifying nonresident families.
A nonresident fee card is valid for one year from the date of issue. This card entitles
the cardholder to the full range of services and materials available at the Crystal Lake
Public Library, including access to other services available through the Library's
membership in the North Suburban Library System.
Special Cards
There are special cards available to businesses, nonresident
taxpayers, and employees of the City of Crystal Lake. For more information on these,
please contact the Circulation Department at the Crystal Lake Public Library.
Reciprocal Borrowers
Individuals who have a resident card, in good standing, from another
public library in the state of Illinois which participates in the inter- and intra-system
reciprocal borrowing agreement, may register with the Crystal Lake Public Library as a
reciprocal borrower. A reciprocal borrower card in good standing entitles the
cardholder to the use of eligible materials and services at the Crystal Lake Public
Library. Some new, developing collections may not be eligible for loan on the
reciprocal borrower card.
